NOVEL

Novel Spent Acid Management Project was established at Vatva in the year 2009 at the cost of Rs. 30 crore. This is a centralized industrial waste exchange and by product recovery facility in the name of Spent Acid Management.

Spent Sulphuric Acid is generated in the industrial units involved in the manufacture of dyes, dye-intermediates and other chemicals where sulphuric acid or oleum are used as raw materials. The individual industries find it difficult to store, handle or treat it effectively. Therefore Novel Spent Acid Management Project was established for management of Spent Acid.

The various activities include Segregation and Collection of Spent Acid received at site in different tanks depending on the concentration of sulphuric acid. Presently Novel has 130 Members which supply around 400 M3/day Spent Acid for treatment. Out of that 100 M3 Colourless Spent Acid per day is supplied directly to the actual users to utilize as a raw material for the manufacture of value added products
